How to Tell Marty Rathbun is Suppressive

Is that a trick question? No.

With Marty Rathbun’s daily barrage of self-serving promotion of the absurd proposition that he’s a “Scientologist” and trying to do “good work,” one has to routinely point out that he is just a Suppressive Person, and how you can tell.

So, how can you tell Marty Rathbun is a Suppressive?

He commits Suppressive Acts. Daily.

How can you tell his close associates are Suppressives? They commit Suppressive Acts. Continually.

The rest is pretense. The clever-sounding subterfuges of Rathbun hangers-on and associates about how they revere the Tech of Scientology, respect and honor LRH, want to practice Scientology “independently” (read: off the Bridge taking as many people as possible with them,) only want to “save” the Church, etc., etc. are just that – clever-sounding subterfuges. In fact, in most cases, they aren’t very clever-sounding at all, just clumsy mis-applications of positioning tech intended to draw people away from Scientology and into their little go-nowhere squirrel world. Even other SPs and squirrels laugh at the absurdity of such bogus posturing.

You’ll even see a few starting websites labeling Scientology a “cult.” Not exactly a constructive act, much less the action of a “Scientologist” wanting to practice “real Scientology.” (I’d love to see them try to explain that one to LRH himself, and try to convince him they are “real Scientologists.”)

That’s not just a slip, that’s intentional “marketing,” or at least a slimy, covert perversion of marketing. They know full well their own effort to position Scientology itself that way, not just “the Church.” This is the naked, destructive intent of their actions and words.

If you ever find Rathbun, Rinder, Hall, etc., the slightest bit convincing, remember what LRH said in Psychosis, More About:
“A true psychotic can be brilliant or stupid, competent or incompetent It is his general motive or  purpose that determines whether or not he is insane or sane.”

The next time you hear Rathbun or one of his stooges pontificating about all their qualifications, past stats or training and auditing done, take a good look at what they are doing now. Committing Suppressive Acts almost faster than one can count. Look at how and when they “departed” the Church (blew.) You’ll see that the “good old days” they pine for were the days when they could hide inside the Church, like Rathbun, and be as covertly destructive as possible. When it became clear the Church was going to expand no matter how they tried to subvert it, they couldn’t bear it and blew. We almost euphemize them now by calling them mere “apostates.”

And it drives them crazy that the Church is expanding, and the numbers of new people introduced to Scientology are higher now than ever before, particularly since Rathbun and his friends removed themselves.

They were and remain barriers to people getting the gains of Scientology, and, unable to mend their covert ways, even now covertly promote themselves as the opposite of what they are.

But you can know Rathbun (and his damaged friends) with certainty by the results of their activities.

“The test of a personality, then, is whether the result of a person’s activity is destructive or constructive.”
LRH
Psychosis, More About

There’s nothing subtle about the actions of Marty Rathbun and his apostate associates. There is absolutely nothing constructive in allying themselves with and actively supporting some of the most egregious Scientology and LRH-haters we’ve ever seen – Ursula Caberta, Mark Bunker, Tony Ortega.

No sane individual would even dare to pretend he’s a Scientologist and support those people whose avowed purpose (and observable track record) is a continuous effort at the complete destruction of our religion.

You’ll look long and hard to find something constructive Rathbun was involved with. Yet there’s almost nothing easier than spotting the Suppressive Acts he commits.

If you have clean hands and even a modest ability to actually confront.

  1. Larry H says:

Hey, even SP radio jocks laugh Rathbun off the air when he tries selling that bull. You don’t even need training to see how bogus it is. Good article.

  2. NB says:

“He commits Suppressive Acts. Daily…They commit Suppressive Acts. Continually.”
It’s not a joke, even though it seems too obvious. If you get “reasonable” about this and try to explain it away, you do so at your own peril.

  3. Davis says:

Nice pic, it’s a lot like Rathbun. He acts like he’s all serene in his mission to squirrel things up, but turns on the psycho and victim faces when things don’t go his way.

  4. Partout says:

People who can’t make it as group members have been trying to splinter from Scientology from day one. Rathbun is no different, nor are those who might buy into his nutbaggery. Many of them have pretended they still want to practice it, but they uniformly fall away over time.
Some of them have been resurrected recently by Rathbun and some of his cult members to try to bolster the idea that they are legit. I notice that those old time splitters are parked just exactly at the point where they left, and even off into other philosophies.
That’s where Rathbun is headed at a mad rate.

  5. Ana G says:

You are so right. It makes me livid when I think about Mike Rinder living off my church (and *our* donations) for decades while SLEEPING his way through meetings, conspiring with Marty to rip up orgs and attempt to destroy Scientology in general, whle leaving the real work, the tough work of salvaging a planet to the staff he abused. LOOK – DON’T LISTEN! is right! Thanks, Vince, for another insightful post.

  6. Overdrive says:

Nice one here. It’s all pretty damn obvious, but obviously there are a few people who don’t get it, especially the ones trying to palm this garbage off on others, like Cook and Rathbun and Rinder. Or maybe they see it as obvious too and just don’t give a sh*t as long as they get their money.

  7. Lorette says:

“If you have clean hands and even a modest ability to actually confront.”

I think the vast majority do. The PTSes, I think, will fall prey to anybody’s black PR – it doesn’t even have to be effective. Those people are the effect of everything in their environment.

  8. Airtight says:

I really don’t think anyone finds Rathbun, Rinder, Hall even slightly convincing. Only other SP’s who are in on the scam try to appear like they agree with it. It’s a total scam, and they know it, or are just too sub-zero to even see it.

  9. jellybelly says:

    >> How can you tell his close associates are Suppressives? They commit Suppressive Acts. Continually.>>

Agreed – sounds like a no-brainer and its not. People like Marty are good enough at blowing smoke that people fail to see the obvious. This one even made me stop and think. Damn fine post.

  10. Ana G says:

Not so! Sorry, but there are some really stupid people out there. Look at people like Vanna Bonta – dumb as a door knob – and she pretended to be an Scner for years!

  11. Ana G says:

You’ve got it! Very few people actually look at the obvious – the daily suppressive acts, the daily destructive actions – and on a massive scale – committed by Marty Rathbun, Mike Rinder, and their pathetic little cabal. Vince, you should post every suppressive act Rat and Rin commit, as you learn about them, just one by one wthout a lot of commentary, and see then if people start to get it.

  12. Philo says:

Glad to see this; I’ve been going on about this for a while…bogus posturing is right and an apt description.
The simple truth is that Rathbun (and Rinder, Hall et al) are suppressives, and connecting up with the worst suppressives they can find to try to bring down Scientology altogether. The rest, as you say, is pretense.
You know them by their actions.

  13. AJ says:

    .

This para cuts right through their crap like a scythe.

  14. kahn22 says:

you’re right. I looked long and hard and almost hurt myself trying to find something constructive Rathbun was involved with. I won’t bother again.

  15. AJ says:

“The test of a personality, then, is whether the result of a person’s activity is destructive or constructive.”
    LRH
    Psychosis, More About

You would think this quote alone would make fence-sitters get off their hind quarters and take a stand. There can be no doubt that all Rathbun has done is be destructive. I see no evidence of him doing otherwise. Anybody?

  16. AJ says:

Not to mention TorytheSuperDitz. Now there’s a perfect example of someone who bought the SP enemy lines whole without ever stopping to look at their actions – not once, I am certain of it. But I also think she’s the type who would sell her grandmother south, so to speak, if she thought there was some way to make a buck off it.

  17. Christine says:

Of all the things that Ron said about the future that grips me the most is his admonishment against the day when there are high priests with incense in the Church, which is exactly Connect-the-Dots inline with Rathbun’s utterings.
    .
What is more antithetical to LRH than some preachy preacher telling me what LRH means? Add in the everyotherword justifications and the tightly-woven victim mantle that he parades around with…what is LRH about that?
    .
Even calling Rathbun a Suppressive is disproportionate application of LRH compared to the path that Rathbun and Rinder have chosen. They are con artists, they are cry babies, they are incompetents and if they were to harm me physically I have no doubt that I could prove it a hate crime for all the bad they have said about my religion.

  18. Christine says:

I can’t wrap my head around the idea of a ‘fence sitter’.
    .
LRH said to get into bed with a lawyer who had been so wreckless and hateful against Scientology that the courts have admonished her him? [ ] Yes; [X] No
    .
LRH said to get into bed with a shill for the Hamburg pharmaceutical businesses, a person who has been so anti-Scientology that she has championed special identity cards and edicts forbidding work permits for Scientologists and other actions so fraudulent and hateful that the courts have admonished him her? [ ] Yes; [X] No
    .
LRH said to get into bed with people who have left the Church in disgrace for their inability to apply ethics to themselves, performing acts of fraud and crude deviancy and then not setting themselves right when invited to do so? [ ] Yes; [X] No
    .
Certainly there are a list of other points, but gimme a break. Fence sitter? You’d have to be riding the mutual anti-social, out-ethics distortion wave to even think that for a millisecond.

  19. Christine says:

I agree. It isn’t so much the time wasted as the expense of the hospital grade gloves that I have to wear as a prophylactic when touching a site with his smears and motivators.

  20. Christine says:

That is really the summation of Rathbun’s problems. Anything that isn’t what he said destroys the logic of what he said.

  21. Christine says:

Exactly. By their actions and by their failures as well. Course rooms and abiding by any of the QC functions of Scientology for the auditor, for the pc, for the student, for the reg, for the C/S – really, for any part of the organization that LRH spent so much time building.

  22. Christine says:

How do you know his associates are Suppressives? They are associates!
    .
Jokes aside, my guess is that these people were never able to get beyond a few helpful LRH quotes and were hoping that good acts or miracles would just rub off on them. They never had a feeling for why Scientology is an applied religious philosophy.

  23. Christine says:

You point out again how incompetent the Rathbun Rinder ‘super-special we we’re so high in the organization’ crew has been. They never were able to parlay the assets that they had to expansion. Sure, a few parasites who glomph onto any whiff of anti-Scientology they can find, but nothing of merit. Now, with a nearly dead movement they’ll get desperate. But in the end they will be turned on by the very parasites they tried to feed.

  24. Christine says:

Also, not just one or two points from the list. They spin on several cylinders, but somehow are able to misfire from all.

  25. Christine says:

I remember learning in my first theater class that both humor and tragedy share a common definition: Deviation from expectation.
    .
So I look at the masks of humor and tragedy and think, if it weren’t so serious Rathbuns actions are all so funny, so farcical. At the same time, Rathbuns actions are all so obvious and technically so predictable yet you can never tell which compulsion will get control of him next.

  26. Christine says:

We also get to see these splitters go from one desperate hope to latch onto one, then another, anti-LRH anti-Scientologist like Rathbun. Then they find that there is a fly in the soup. Then they look for a fork and blow-torch to torture it.

  27. Christine says:

If it makes you feel any better Ana G, just think of all the great things that have happened since they put themselves into their Dantian pasture. For every time that Rathbun gets noticed by the press there are another dozen Ideal Orgs.

  28. Christine says:

I can’t get beyond the thought of “How desperate would I have to be” to get to the point of doing even one of the acts of any of these people.

  29. Christine says:

MAybe that would affect one of them, but I imagine the reaction would a hundred over-wrought essays justifying each act. Out-list is always close at their victimized hearts.

  30. Christine says:

When you mention those examples I think of guilty people who can’t think. I wish them luck next time.

  31. Sal says:

This is my favorite part of what you wrote: “You’ll look long and hard to find something constructive Rathbun was involved with. Yet there’s almost nothing easier than spotting the Suppressive Acts he commits.”
    .
It sums up the whole Rathbun character so perfectly. Understanding him to his core requires nothing more than a little obnosis, a simple understanding of ethics tech, and a little certainty as a Scientologist.

  32. Sal says:

On you tube the other day I saw this clip of a guy who filmed his wife as they were driving some place. He had asked he the question, “If I am doing 80 mph, how far will I have gone in an hour?”
    .
She answered saying that it all depended on the size of your tires, and that in her car, because she has small tires, she would go about 40 miles, whereas in his car he would maybe go 60. She explained her ‘logic’ and simply would not be corrected about the actual physics, actual logic, indisputable facts of the matter.
    .
It was a great laugh, and evidence of how badly screwed up some people’s perception and understanding of the universe can be. And how they refuse to be wrong. (She was not acting).
    .
The whole thing reminded me of The Rat. To him it doesn’t matter how clear the evidence that he is committing suppressive acts, how undeniably true your article is – he is a Savior, a Martyr, and the most social personality anyone ever met. He lives in a very strange universe. I just have to laugh.

  33. Ginger says:

Yes, you might think he was just flipping from one psychotic valence to another…

  34. Sharpe says:

Those of us who have been watching splitters for a long time know about what you’re saying. Rathbun would have us all think they were just bought out, but that’s a lie also. The vast majority went nowhere after splitting because they went nowhere when they were in the Church.
Their reasons for “splitting” were not their stated reasons. The real reasons were because they couldn’t stay clean, duplicate, and apply and therefore were unable to get gains.
So they stay parked, as you pointed out, or actually just keep getting worse.

  35. NB says:

You distill the sit in your first sentence; they couldn’t make it as group members. Even the ones (especially the ones) who tout their long experience on staff, “stats”, training and so on couldn’t make it as group members. That’s a big common denominator.
    ~
You’ll never see a one of them who genuinely contributed to expansion, no matter how they might try to present/twist their “contributions.”

  36. Carlos A. says:

I think I know who you’re talking about. RatRin act like these old splitters are role models, but they (he) are just the same as they were 25 years ago. Still saying the same things, no elevation in spiritual awareness, etc.
I guess this is what RatRin aspire to, and want for others.

  37. Ginger says:

Really bang-up article, Vince. You seem to get better every time I visit. I mean better in pointing out the insanity of Rathbun and his messed up buddies.

  38. Overdrive says:

Most sane people are willing to stipulate that Rathbun has not done anything constructive. No need to go looking further. I think he’s even proud of that.

  39. Sharpe says:

Even the more noticeable characters Rathbun promotes hid for years, pretending to get gain. Fairman was a good example. There are others, too. They talk about liking the philosophy, etc., but you never saw them gain or change.
I always distrust those who want to discuss or comment upon the philosophy and tech ad infinitum, even writing about it at length, comparing it to various founding fathers or earlier philosophies, etc.
You know you have someone in total think and significance, and not someone who ever took simple basics, applied them and incorporated them into their lives, and gained thereby. They just like to sit around and talk about it all.

  40. Terri says:

It really is that simple. Only other SPs dont’ see that, or maybe PTSes who haven’t any certainty on the tech. You would have to be pretty weak to run off to an SP like Rathbun or any other squirrel for that matter.

  41. Terri says:

The important thing is that they are both masks, none of them are the real Rathbun. It’s for certain that he really doesn’t know who he really is.

  42. Terri says:

It may be easy for some to get caught up in the smoke. But there’s no getting around Suppressive Acts no matter who it is that comes out and commits them (Cook is a good example.)
They might try real hard to be convincing and real, but anyone whose KSW points are in knows you just don’t get that Suppressive and have any credibility as an honest person.

  43. Terri says:

“Where you see a thetan who sleeps too much and does too little, where you see a person who conceives bad doingness on every hand, you see a person who is safeguarding others from the badness of himself or herself…”
    LRH
    Responsibility

  44. Ginger says:

When you put it that way, it makes my hair stand on end. A Suppressive declare doesn’t seem to be enough.

  45. Carlos A. says:

I’m not all that sure about the idea of a “fence-sitter” either. I’m sure that’s who RatRin are going after, but those people who haven’t yet gotten certainty on KSW are all I could consider fence sitters. Who else really would go into agreement with such obvious suppressives who are so obviously just trying to destroy Scientology completely?

  46. Carlos A. says:

“What is more antithetical to LRH than some preachy preacher telling me what LRH means?”
Great point. Also, Rathbun was the one nattering about “High priests” so, using the criminal mind data, you know that he sees others as he himself is.
He’s been on a pretty strong campaign to interpret things for everyone else and make himself a high priest.
    Sorry, I already recognize Source.

  47. Lion says:

Yes, “bogus posturing” it is. I always end up using far more words to describe it, and clumsily.
    That’s a keeper.

  48. Terri says:

    You mean this one?
“There’s nothing subtle about the actions of Marty Rathbun and his apostate associates. There is absolutely nothing constructive in allying themselves with and actively supporting some of the most egregious Scientology and LRH-haters we’ve ever seen – Ursula Caberta, Mark Bunker, Tony Ortega.”

  49. Larry H says:

Talk about held down 7′s !

  50. Posh says:

Yes, it so obviously screwed up it has to be just about money. But of course Rathbun goes to great lengths to deny that (while covertly making pleas for donations.)
    What a piece of work.

  51. Posh says:

That very well describes Rathbun’s daily traffic.

  52. Philo says:

Those tech things he pays lip service to are all just bogus posturing on Marty’s part, meant to bolster the bogus posturing about being “pro.” (and make a few bucks on the side from the clueless.)

  53. Sharpe says:

“That’s not just a slip, that’s intentional “marketing,” or at least a slimy, covert perversion of marketing. They know full well their own effort to position Scientology itself that way, not just “the Church.” This is the naked, destructive intent of their actions and words.”
    .
I think you’re talking about Hall’s site, and it strikes me the same way. He’s actually out there touting what a “marketing” genius he was, but he was engaged in some of the most covertly destructive efforts to undermine promotion we’ve ever seen. He was a total know-best and his actual stats were dismal. Another one of Rathbun’s fellow-SP staff clique that Rathbun nourished.

  54. ex-Independent says:

The most obvious thing to me is that Rathbun is squirreling the tech. From my past experiences these are some of Rathbun’s points of gross out tech:

    a) audits with no certs
    b) audits with out of cert meter
    c) has no case supervisor
    d) has no examiner, e) he “C/Ses” for some Italian squirrels with no folders and having never been trained as a C/S,
    f) he apparently “supervised” Monique Rathbun to teach her how to audit, yet Rathbun is not a trained supervisor – he has never done the course is only a read-it-drill-it-do-it auditor himself
    g) Rathbun audits materials he has never been trained on
    h) he has given verbal instructions for people he has audited to SOLO Audit with no C/S and no worksheets
    i) he does not pull withholds
    j) he does not do folder error summaries
    k) he has falsely declared people as “Clear” having never done the course, nor the C/S course. The list could go on.

Here are the Rathbun PC’s who I am aware of that he has wrecked the cases of:

Jason Beghe -(became an anti-Scientologist after Rathbun auditing)

Silvia Kusada – is now a squirrel according to what Rathbun is telling people

Chris Collbran – blew Scientology after Rathbun auditing and reverted to drugs

Christie Collbran – miscarried after Rathbun auditing

Matt Argall – reverted to drugs after Rathbun auditing

Samantha Domingo – reverted to drugs after Rathbun auditing

Mike Laws – blew Scientology and went on psych drugs after Rathbun auditing

Mareka James – she’s been written about here before due to the promiscuous 2D activity after Rathbun auditing

Jamie Sorrentini – involved in affair with a married man after Rathbun auditing.

Those are just the ones I am aware of. I am sure if anyone had all the names of people who got “auditing” from him, we’d find many more. He’s never gotten any cramming on any of these failed cases. So, the tech overts are stacking up more and more.

Rathbun seems to think it is no big deal to squirrel. His theory is that those whose quality is bad, won’t get customers. The problem is this flawed theory doesn’t take into account all the people who are below 2.0 on the tone scale. They don’t take survival actions but will take those actions which take them further toward death. That’s why you get PTS / DBs who show up repeatedly at Marty’s place to get auditing. It’s the same low toned / psychotic people. It’s the same reason people continue to get “treated” by psychs – it is doing them in which is what they are “surviving” toward.

That’s why even some of the worst, most out-tech squirrels will still have DBs who are willing to pay them to screw them over. That’s where Marty fits.

I will guarantee you that over the next couple of years, more and more of his “PCs” will become completely anti-Scientology and anti-LRH due to their overts on the Church, LRH and Scientologists.

These guys are committing so many overts against LRH, the tech and Scientologists, that they are going down the chute faster and faster. Look at Mike Rinder, he used to sound somewhat intelligent. Now he sounds like a bitter old whiner, who couldn’t get a job if his life depended on it.

And look at the company they are keeping: they praise a creepy guy like Tony Ortega, who is completely and totally anti-Scientology and Anti-LRH and who is involved in facilitating sex-trafficking. Look at what his organization does. They make $22 million a year on their online prostitution ads, which includes numerous ads for underage girls forced into selling themselves on the threat of violence and death by their pimps. (See the recent NY Times stories about this).

Then there is Rathbun allying with Ursula Caberta, a German psycho who has done her best to punish Scientologists in that country for applying LRH tech.

Now Rathbun and Rinder are even getting into bed with the Freezone and Ron’s Org squirrels. Even some of their fellow squirrel Independents were shocked. Rathbun is so far stuck into his own make believe world that he was not even aware that all of the Independent lines that he has been using are all from the 1980s. It is obvious that he has gone into their valence and is dramatizing their old engrams and has been completely oblivious to it. Now he is trying to find a why on why this earlier group failed.

Marty, I have news for you, they failed because they were squirrels and they failed to follow what LRH had repeatedly said i.e. to support the official organizations of Dianetics and Scientology.

That’s why Marty and Mike are losing and will continue to lose. Like any SP, they can only spread entheta. If you don’t agree with them, they turn on you. They are backstabbing turncoats. Anyone who trusts them takes their life in their own hands.

  55. LaserActive says:

Nice quote. Thank you Terri. But Marty Rathbun is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sincere. You aren’t thinking that this applies to him, are you?

  56. LaserActive says:

That’s an interesting idea. Correlation/Causation is all over the map here. Marty Ratbun is very screwed up, his actions are screwed up, his results are screwed up, his motivations are certainly also screwed up.

  57. LaserActive says:

Know Them By Their Compulsions 101

  58. LaserActive says:

There isn’t enough glory for these types in putting on a yellow shirt and actually doing something for other people for hours and hours and hours on end. Being a course supervisor or case supervisor, pouring over sessions and looking for indicators in students just doesn’t get the hoped for adulation that a “Hey, I’ve got a website and I am gonna tell you what Ron meant when he said this about that and don’t you know I just read something in Travesty Weekly that says the same thing so now we know that we can use this technique especially since I think it is more important that other results for my service facsimile that I can’t get off my back.”
    Sorry. I got carried away.

  59. Sal says:

I assume you all have seen the LRH Birthday event. I saw it last night and it was terrific! One of the best ever, and it had me F/Ning on many levels.
    .
The first thing that struck me was the reception to COB by the crowd. It was a huge crowd and the thunderous applause when he arrived on stage seemed stronger and more intense than ever. People are always happy to see him – but this time it seemed to me that it was more than that. They were telling him they supported him and believed in him. That they stand by his side. And the crowd in my auditorium watching the video were just the same. It was more than an accolade – it was a statement. I loved it!
    .
COB was clearly happy to be there and seemed to have not a care in the world. He launched into the event in his usual style – full bore flat out captivating high intensity. The Rat and his spawn have attacked that style thousands of times, as have they COB’s use of certain phrases and words. Well, to my delight, COB’s style and vocabulary was the same as always. Nothing could have made it more clear that he either has no idea of the specifics of the natter about him, or that he simply is 100% unaffected by it. All that entheta thrown at him and it has had no effect at all! In fact, the only effect I could detect is that it seems to have made him more resolute and more powerful. To me it was a perfect two-fingered salute to the SPs, and a show of strength and greatness to all who count on him to continue to man the helm. Without saying a single word about it, he let us know exactly what he thinks about the SPs and their natter. A true master!
    .
The event was about LRH, and as I suppose everyone now knows, 27 books were released about him and his life. As usual, incredible effort had been made to ensure that every photo of LRH was perfect, and hundreds of previously unprintable photos had been painstakingly restored by having the dust, scratches, exposure errors and so on corrected. The amount of research and work that has gone into the project is incredible. The purpose in doing it all is to make LRH available to everyone who wants to get to know him. In usual COB style it is an exchange condition 4 product which is an incredible tribute to LRH. It is in a sequence and format that bolster duplication and clarity, allowing one to track his life from childhood, through his many adventures to his ultimate goal of creating a new civilization on earth.
    .
What has The Rat done to defend or promote LRH? How can he accuse anyone of being anti LRH or trying to supplant LRH? As usual, The Rat is just talking about himself when accuses others of failing LRH.
    .
All the Basic books and tapes have been translated into Chinese. Another monumental effort that doubles Scientology’s reach into the world population. A project of that size, importance and potential only got 2 minutes in the jam packed event.
    .
I loved the Ideal Org openings that were shown. In particular I liked the speeches given by the dignitaries. Many of them are on lines or actually using the tech, and all of them recognize Source, the power of the tech and the value to their communities of having Scientologists at their heart. I am sure none of them have heard of the The Rat, but it almost seemed like they too were giving him that special salute.
    .
I could go on and on about the event. The new releases that are coming this year will once again lift the Church into a new strata of expansion and success.
    .
Bottom line is that our local event was packed, and everyone there knows that now is the best time ever to stand up and tell the world that he/she is a Scientologist. There has never been a better time to be one, and things are just getting better and better.
    .
Conversely, by observation and by implication, there has never been a worse time to be a squirrel and SP.
    .
All The Rat has accomplished is to encourage all the other rats to leave the ship and get on the dock; and now have to watch it happily and affluently sail off to new exciting places without them aboard. I wonder what old freighter they will find to climb aboard and pretend to be happy on.

  60. LaserActive says:

Two good points there. People like Marty Rathbun are certain about Scientology, just not for them. We can speculate about what they can’t confront which would get them out of their only-one problem.
    -
The idea of the applied religious philosophy has so many great precedents and derivatives, none of which these people get. That the LRH data is so cohesive, so uniquely cohesive, doesn’t register. Maybe I should get a website and pompously tell people my great thoughts about it. Coffee anyone?

  61. LaserActive says:

That’s the Ten Points Pole Rule perhaps?

  62. LaserActive says:

“lip service to are all just bogus posturing” – that kind of posturing that we see in all the Rinderetters and Rathbun Compulsives is so unnecessary for a person actually doing something, actually helping a person, then another person, then another. The blathering is not something a Pro would ever do, or ever need to do. That incessant “look at me” is not something anyone who respects and understands LRH would do.

  63. Lion says:

The fact that Rathbun is so untrained but acts like a tech guru shows you just how oblivious he is (and any other squirrels who subscribe to his views.)
He and his buddies have tried to get “training” going, but who the hell would attend?
There was a recent article on this blog about this:
    http://martyrathbunblog.com/mark-rathbun/marty-rathbun-school-of-suppression/
    ..
Great summary you posted. I’m sure there’s a LOT more we don’t know about (people getting sick, relationships breaking up, drug reversions, people spinning case-wise.)
We do know he’s sent people off to “solo” audit (without a C/S even) and that he’s declared some OT5′s (yes, OT5′s who never get off withholds) – who knows what they’re up to?

  64. Avalon says:

A great point…there is really nothing constructive or positive being done by Rathbun or his friends, plus they are connected up with some of the worst sp’s on the planet, and are all buddy-buddy with them (!?)
It’s all pretty easy to see if you have even a little confront as you said.
As soon as Cook came out with her standard-Rathbun entheta lines (even pretending she was pro-Source, etc) I just nodded and said there’s Rathbun at work again.
I don’t care how many sp’s and PTSes he digs up and presents as new lies to “prove” the old lies, it’s all destruction.
    Good article.

  65. Avalon says:

I think you would have to be semi-conscious to even be “on the fence” as far as Rathbun and what his fellow sp’s are saying. Either that or just semi-literate.
What I guess I’m saying is that they both come down to the same thing. The anaten and the illiteracy come down to mu’s followed by overts.
    Good luck with that fence.

  66. Avalon says:

“They were and remain barriers to people getting the gains of Scientology, and, unable to mend their covert ways, even now covertly promote themselves as the opposite of what they are.”
Not only that, all that they are engaged upon is a campaign of destroy, not create. That’s the real point of your article I think, and it’s really that clear.
You don’t need a lot of training to see people like these for what they are.

  67. Teacher says:

You’re really making the point again that Rathbun is deluded, which he is. He doesn’t see the same reality that others do. He actually doesn’t see any reality, just pictures of pictures.

  68. TRex says:

If you read what they say, they are each the kind of person who like to “talk about” Scn, not incorporate it into their lives and beingnesses.
You know then that they aren’t moving on the Bridge because they can only confront significance.

  69. Philo says:

“I will guarantee you that over the next couple of years, more and more of his “PCs” will become completely anti-Scientology and anti-LRH due to their overts on the Church, LRH and Scientologists.”
    This is Rathbun’s purpose. He’s a hater-creator, and it’s by design.

You don’t have to be good at reading between the lines to know that he validates overts against the Church, motivators and justifiers with his “pc’s” both in and out of session. That’s a formula not only to create a cadre of haters, but also to destroy those beings in question.

There’s the real Marty Rathbun. If any of the jokers who support him had any knowledge of the tech, or respect for it, they would see that and run in the other direction fast.

  70. Sharpe says:

Thanks, Sal, I felt – and feel – much the same way about it.
I also got my LRH bio set and am eating it up. It was a hell of a job, and there are goodies in there I never knew anything about.

  71. TRex says:

Quite a list, thanks for posting. Rathbun is a technical nightmare and has no business calling what he does “Scientology.”
He’s actually worse technically than almost every other squirrel I’ve ever looked at, and I’ve looked at (and repaired the PC’s of) quite a few.
I can only imagine unravelling the messes he’s creating. I don’t think many of them will show up for the correct tech, however, because he’s turning them into Scientology haters as you pointed out.
So his real “product”, aside from the overt products you mention, is people turned away from Scientology.
    - – - Nobody knows better that Rathbun that it must be lonely in hell.

  72. Scott says:

    Fabulous list ex-inde. Fabulous.
    ][
You wrote, "...Like any SP, they can only spread entheta. If you don’t agree with them, they turn on you. ..."
    ][
The opposite is true. If you do agree with them THEY TURN ON YOU. They make everything horrid after they touch it.

  73. Scott says:

And even those pictures are complicated by twitch moments in his life. I bet he see vampires coming out of his computer screen, just so he has something to fight.

  74. Scott says:

“Only other SPs dont’ see that, or maybe PTSes who haven’t any certainty on the tech.”
    ][
I never considered that. They are so FU’d that they have a blind spot for the person who destroys everyone else, but all they see is the conniving grin? All I can say is, O. M. G.

  75. Scott says:

There is a common denominator though. Marty is always flailing, he is always desperate. It seems like his need to make excuses is the over-arching character in his party-line mentality.

  76. Scott says:

And pinning the dial at all extremes. He doesn’t just go bag-lady nuts, but he goes bag-lady with full mumbles for 20 or so minutes, spitting on the ground – nope, not on the ground, on the marble floor! he was inside, in public wasn’t he?

  77. Scott says:

That’s funny. He needs the mask to cover his viper teeth, and he needs the mask to cover that his viper teeth are flaccid.
    ][
I can’t think of a situation worse that I would not want to be in than to be Marty right now. He has failed to use any of the assets that he had, he got no momentum, he is inept to the nth degree, he chooses friends who bring him down further and who take advantage of his weaknesses and yet he can’t get out. He’s completely stuck.

  78. Scott says:

And you can’t find a better group of blow-torch the messenger, out-list and out-of-valence walking overts than the bunch that Marty has around him now. The minute he stops his wack-o wack-o they will be turning on him with very sharp blades. History shows it, Marty knows it. He is screwed with a capital F.

  79. Scott says:

    Can’t get in?
    Can’t get out?
These guys are all consumed with trying to prove they are out, yet they are obviously stuck in their biggest problem – they can’t get in! They really really really know where they need to be, so they attack it! What great logic that is, but it is all they have!

  80. Scott says:

Every Marty post shows one thing. He is very stuck in whatever it is he is stuck in. He gives new meaning to Evil Int.

  81. Scott says:

But they have to stick around. I used to think it was only because they have that compulsion to prove Scientology wrong, but I see that they are also very “Can’t get out” because they “Can’t get in.” This is definitely not something that the Rat can help them with either. They are permanently screwed, and worse than permanently when they “fix it” with Marty.

  82. Scott says:

    That’s a winner!

  83. Scott says:

Ha! Marty isn’t only stuck (on the track, in Scientology (can’t get out/can’t be in), out of valence, to list a few) but he is stuck in what he can say. He bounces around like a pin ball trying to express himself, as if anyone reads the stuff, as if anyone who knows LRH thinks that he is the person to interpret LRH for them…what an idiot. Who said it first? I would hate to be him now. So few options and all of them bad and all of them extreme.

  84. Scott says:

I know what you mean Carlos. It is like a bad horror show, as if the stupids all get into agreement that they can only be abused, that they can’t do anything else except be abused. Stuck Stuck must Suck Suck.

  85. Scott says:

    “Sorry, I already recognize Source.”
    ][
    Beautiful!

  86. Scott says:

But it sure adds some spice to the schadenfreude to know the basics of the Levels – to see them all twitching, especially with the crap that Marty compulsively writes – you just know that they are so freakin’ out list that they are on a constant frying pan. You can see it in the Marty actions; hate, anger, propitiation, apathy, hate, excuses, and on and on.

  87. Scott says:

Sorry; I meant to say that the opposite is true TOO!

  88. Scott says:

Decades and centuries from now these people will still be twitching in reaction to their silly actions of today. They needed to do so little to save themselves in comparison to the effort they perform that digs them deeper into the cesspool.

  89. Scott says:

I should be enough though. It should allow the person some space to get their life back wanting to face the right direction. But then you get a Marty out there who stirs up their sordid past, sometimes a past created by him with suppressive auditing and mutual hiding of anti-social activity. Well, this too will pass, but it is a learning lesson.

  90. Posh says:

Marty won’t turn on certain people, tho.
If they have any kind of broad comm line, he’ll bend over and say “kick me” like he did with Ortega.

  91. TRex says:

“He’s never gotten any cramming on any of these failed cases. So, the tech overts are stacking up more and more…”
In his own mind, Rathbun doesn’t think he commits overts, or even has withholds. He thinks he’s doing good things.
Notice that when anything goes wrong or even starts to look bad, he blames something “over there.”

  92. StillAround says:

“he has given verbal instructions for people he has audited to SOLO Audit with no C/S and no worksheets” but he still insists he’s “on source?”

  93. AirtighT says:

You can bet there are people he’s “audited” who have just slunk off and stay away now. What could they do or where could they go?
They’ve burned their bridges with the real tech, and don’t want Marty to attack them (see Sylvia whateverhernameis) so maybe they find another squirrel and try to get cleaned up in some way. It’s dismal no matter how you look at it, but I’m sure they don’t want to come out in the open and make it known, because they’d show they were wrong in the first place supporting Rathbun, and opening themselves up to being squashed by him for talking anyway.

  94. Overdrive says:

You probably only scratched the surface here, but if you want to see how someone who is this packed in with O’s and W’s looks, watch the video in the top right of this blog page.

  95. StillAround says:

…and that’s saying something. There have been some pretty grotesque squirrels running around over the years. I’ve heard stories of things I couldn’t believe, but I think Rathbun is more subtle than the guys who have used old tv antennas instead of meters.
I wouldn’t put it past him to go just about that bizarre however. He didn’t complain when people suggested hot tub auditing and reading meters over the internet, etc.

  96. Overdrive says:

Caberta, Ortega, Bunker – yeah, and Rathbun’s tried to line himself up with other SP’s who have blown him off. He’s got a group of them on the internet who attack him for being such a liar about his real intentions. Even some SP’s can see how false he is.

  97. judyM says:

    Nice comment, Sal.
“All The Rat has accomplished is to encourage all the other rats to leave the ship and get on the dock; and now have to watch it happily and affluently sail off to new exciting places without them aboard”
As Rathbun loses more and more of his audience, I wonder about this. All he’s left with is hardcore haters now who could probably care less about going up the Bridge. But there were some who might have been taken in who are now totally adrift. I guess he accomplished his purpose there.

  98. Terri says:

You’re right, Sal, that’s how real pro-LRH people act. It was a great event, and people are still talking about it. I’m starting to work my way through the bio volumes. (If you haven’t seen it, the photo volume is just awesome.)
By comparison, it makes it all very easy to see what a downscale mockery Rathbun’s whole life and facade really are.
    ~
He really is just going to be left sitting in the dust for a long time to come.

  99. TRex says:

Rathbun truly is unable to think in futures. His “futures” are inverted pictures of a chaotic, deathlike past.
Your summary here shows the stark contrast. Thanks for posting.

  100. Martine says:

“No sane individual would even dare to pretend he’s a Scientologist and support those people whose avowed purpose (and observable track record) is a continuous effort at the complete destruction of our religion.”
You have said Rathbun’s whole story in that sentence. His whole life is a falsehood.

  101. jimmyD says:

it IS bogus posturing. most of what rathbun does is bogus, and he seems to be surrrounded by people putting out a bogus image of themselves too.
they’re just going to go to a picnic once a year and natter. then marty will probably present his newest “OT” completion who natters it all up in a new unit of time.
    yay- another rathbun product.
at least I’m glad you’re here holding his feet to the fire.

  102. TRex says:

By the way, Ex, this is an important point, and one not to be overlooked or taken lightly:
“Rathbun seems to think it is no big deal to squirrel. It’s the same reason people continue to get “treated” by psychs – it is doing them in which is what they are “surviving” toward.”
    ~
I’ve mentioned this in comments recently, and it is a senior datum when you are looking at Rathbun, Rinder, and those who associate with them. Below 2.0 the “pleasure” of survival activity is actually a counterfeit “pleasure” as they move toward death.
This accounts for lots of the gleeful-sounding remarks you hear from Rathbun’s camp.
    ~
See it for what it is. They are all celebrating destruction, and movement toward death.

  103. Vince Fletcher says:

For the record, I do read every comment, and toss the trolls and the SPs who have other places to spread their entheta.
I take particular pleasure in tossing those who want to open a “dialogue.” NO one above 2.0 ever tries such a ploy.

  104. Ana G says:

Good god, that is quite the list of damaged lives. Well, we knew Marty had to be “competent” at something.

  105. Ana G says:

I wholeheartedly agree with your operating basis. I’ve spoken with people like that in the past and it is an utter waste of words. I found them from personal observation to be as thoroughly ill-intentioned as the references on SPs suggest. You are dong a wonderful job here, Vince, and my husband and I thank you for it.

  106. Ex-Marty PC says:

Food for thought – When someone does something bad against us (even when we did nothing to him) he now has an ARC break with us… so he now, having an ARC Break, again offends against us. He is more our enemy. And so he goes until at last he can’t rest until he kills us dead…. That is the route of crime and criminals. They rob, they hurt… they dream up motivators, seeking to justify their acts. This in the field we see as entheta. We do precious little to hurt people. Therefore when they do something against us they have to LIE and SCREAM to justify it..
    ::
And that I’d say is a pretty accurate synopsis of Marty, Mike and every one of their clique of nattering criminal followers.
    ::
People are waking up to them – FACT.

  107. Joanie says:

My first visit to your site. Spent hours reading all the articles. Used to read Moving Up – sort of got caught up in all the drama there – you know the stories and all the salacious comments and “inside scoop.” I left – couldn’t take it anymore and what finally turned me (us) off is Marty really acting like some sort of “Guru” and us readers are supposed to “listen to his advice.” The fact is that I’ve been around and met LRH he was not full of himself. Now Marty acts like he is Source. Sorry, that put me over the edge. He is nuts…my brother and my nephew all agreed to never look at his diatribe again. I’m just telling you Vince because your site helped to solidify what we already saw.. I’ll be sending it as link to others as well. Appreciate the work you do.

  108. Scott says:

I have worked for hours on a sarcastic joke that points out Marty’s complete lunacy on this, and other, points. But there is nothing to say – Marty’s actions make sarcasm of his own words. His thoughts are too insane to mock.

  109. Scott says:

“It’s dismal no matter how you look at it, …”
    ][
    Truer words were never spoken.

  110. Scott says:

What a great reminder, perhaps even promotion for the need for auditor training. Too many doses of Marty Behavior will definitely make one lose their lunch without proper understanding of what makes him tick…or turn to moral jelly (as the case may be.)((Jelly doesn’t seem to tick.))

  111. Scott says:

Ha! I never thought of that. Imagine, being such a slime that the world’s slime doesn’t want to have their name tarnished by Marty’s reputation!!!

  112. Lorette says:

OMG. It’s truly amazing how wildly out-tech these squirrels are. And Rathbun stood by and said NOTHING?? How much more evidence do you need that Marty is just as squirrelly as the worst of them?
