Mark Bunker

Mark Ray Bunker has never denied being an avowed anti-Scientologist.  He has been leeching off Scientology for decades to raise money and gain notoriety he never had. And to try and make a living he could never make elsewhere.

Mark Bunker appeared out of nowhere in the late 90’s where he began harassing and stalking Scientologists with a video camera (donated to him because he was broke).  Like a panhandling gadfly, he lives off gullible anti-religionists, turning himself into a degraded cottage industry by lame attempts to trash L. Ron Hubbard, Scientology and Scientologists in exchange for money or donations.  His real skill is in dreaming up excuses to beg for money to push his latest hate agenda. Judging from his past, where he failed to pay California Franchise Tax Board and the IRS, Bunker has no other observable means of making an honest living.

In August 1996, Mark Bunker was bragging about being involved in writing a screenplay which was intended to be a “slam on L. Ron Hubbard and the Church.”  Yet 15 Years later Bunker is still begging for money to do a documentary.

In 1998, having lost his earlier sources of donations, Bunker began to post anti-Scientology messages in a hate newsgroup using the pseudonym, Dr. Benjamin Wog.

But Bunker’s harassment didn’t end there. For example, he intimidated a hosting company because he wanted them to shut down a site critical of Bunker and his friends. Bunker harassed the receptionist, believing she was a Scientologist (she was not), and then posted the video clip of the harassment (the part that made him look good) on his site.

Like most suppressives and bullies, Bunker can dish it out but can’t take it. If people attempt to exercise their free speech rights by speaking out against Bunker, he quickly acts the innocent victim, whining “look what they are doing to me.” But of course he never bothered to look at the hatred he has been spreading against Scientologists. Like most bullies, he wants his victims’ hands tied behind their backs while he punches them.

Bunker has no restraint or compunctions when it comes to lying. A case in point: the first time his girl friend, Heather Bennett, dumped him for Arnie Lerma (another anti-Scientologist) Bunker blamed Scientology for it. Go figure. That’s real “Bunker mentality” for you.

But Mark Bunker’s animosity doesn’t end with Scientology. He is renowned also for his animosity toward law enforcement. As a case in point, in 2000 he produced a video that made all sorts of false allegations against the Clearwater Police Department.  Whenever law enforcement investigates Bunker or enforces a court injunction against Bunker or his shady associates he comes out with outrageous allegations against them. He also likes to provoke law enforcement into arresting him and so turn himself into a “victim” or “martyr” so he can then use it to ask for more donations. In his own sad, degraded way, Bunker must feel that any attention he can draw to himself makes him somehow relevant.

Mark Bunker’s personal army: Anonymous

On January 17, 2008, Anonymous launched Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks against Scientology owned websites. The FBI quickly investigated and found the culprits responsible for this criminal attack. Those members of Anonymous were prosecuted and sentenced to federal prison.

Around the same time (January 2008), Mark Bunker saw an opportunity to make money and so he proceeded to make one of his slimy videos addressing the cyber-terrorist group suggesting to them ways to “legally” harass Scientology and Scientologists and of course, while they’re at it, purchase his DVD for “educational” purposes.  Bunker finally found the audience he had been looking for his entire life.

Bunker would hold conference calls with the leaders of Anonymous (don’t believe the lie that Anonymous has no leaders) and planned harassment actions against Scientology and Scientologists.  Bunker succeeded in getting the ultimate control of Anonymous by telling them what to do, and they did it. To this date Anonymous is following Bunker’s original plan against Scientology and Scientologists. Anonymous cluelessly named their newly acquired leader Wise Beard Man.  Bunker successfully duped Anonymous and turned in it into a personal army of his, and a personal cash cow.

Did Bunker premeditate all this?  Let’s take a look at the facts.

Anonymous claims that they decided to DDoS, make death threats, and many other illegal activities against Scientology, because the Church of Scientology “removed” a video from YouTube.

But what really happened in that video removal? What did Bunker really do?

Prior to connecting up with Anonymous Mark Bunker was in possession of a stolen Church DVD event.  Bunker, with the help of his accomplices, (Patty Moher Pieniadz, Barbara Graham and Mark Ebner) was responsible for putting the stolen video up on the net at the beginning of January 2008.  However, seeing that he could have been prosecuted for being in possession of stolen property, Bunker himself took down the video, and the rest is history.

Of course Patty Moher claims she is the one who stole the video and that Barbara Graham was the courier who took it to Mark Ebner overnight. It doesn’t matter how they spin the story afterwards,  the fact is that they are thieves. And we have been told that after the Patty Moher posting, supported by Barbara Graham, something has been reopened.

However, many gullible individuals were made to believe that the Church was responsible for taking down the stolen video. Bunker never told the truth because he saw Anonymous as a golden opportunity to make money and get the attention that he so much loves.  So he couldn’t tell them the truth, and of course telling the truth would have complicated a few other things in his life such as facing prosecution for being involved in a theft.

So even his association with Anonymous was based on a lie.

Mark Bunker has attended anti-Scientology hate gatherings, in exchange for having all expenses paid. But he is renown for offering his “loyalty” where there is profit to be made or to get a free meal or a paid-for vacation. Oh, and there’s also the added benefit that he gets to act like a celebrity at these gatherings where he loves to give out his autograph. He loves being able to be more than just a minor money-grubbing hack for a change.

Recently Bunker has joined forces with the king of failures, Marty Rathbun, in a mutual effort to “reform Scientology.”

Now this is an interesting conundrum: Mark Bunker, after decades of trying to destroy Scientology and LRH altogether, all of a sudden (when he smells a new source of possible donations,) decides he only wants to “reform” Scientology. Ever so conveniently, this just happens to align with the false PR front of one Marty Rathbun (the guy who guards the gate to that new source of “donations.”)

On the one hand we have Mark Bunker who is rabidly anti-L. Ron Hubbard, and on the other we have Marty Rathbun who claims to be staunchly pro-L. Ron Hubbard.  Even more laughable is that Bunker has suddenly and dramatically changed his tune from being anti-Hubbard to “respecting people’s right to believe what they want to believe,” claiming that all he really wants to do is reform the Church. (As I mentioned, this sea change in viewpoint was accompanied by a plea for donations from an audience that also pretends to be “pro,” like Rathbun does.)

Given Bunker’s clear and vocal track record, that’s a little like Himmler declaring he didn’t really want to destroy the Jews, he just wanted them to reform their synagogues.

Perhaps Bunker should refresh his memory and recall the time when he was harassing Scientologists outside their residences, stalking them with his paid-for-by-someone-else-camera, posting videos of Scientologists with utter disregard for their privacy, all under the guise of “Free Speech”. He should also recall the time when he would get into Scientologists’ face making disparaging comments about LRH and Scientology.

Either Mark Bunker suffers from dementia or he has a conveniently selective memory. How many times did he stage hate marches against Scientologists? Does Mark Bunker remember when he and his goons marched into a children’s event on L. Ron Hubbard Way in Los Angeles scaring the kids away? Of course not! Bunker is notorious for giving his allegiance to violent individuals. It’s not surprising that he now supports Marty Rathbun.

Meantime Marty Rathbun turns a thoroughly blind eye to Bunker’s years of intolerance and harassment of Scientology and Scientologists and proclaims that Mark Bunker, “is a decent, honest guy . . . he hasn’t been trashing scripture and trashing tech. He really hasn’t been trashing LRH.” Well, there you go Marty, becoming that which you failed to handle.  Marty must be really desperate if he has to resort to hiring Bunker to bail him out.

Rathbun beseeches his followers to open their hearts to Bunker, and Bunker in turn beseeches them to open their wallets instead, claiming he needs funds to champion their cause.

Let me just spell this out slowly.  Bunker has devoted many years to taking money off of anti-Scientology elements for the purpose of destroying Scientology. It hasn’t been subtle; that’s the stated objective.  Now he claims to want money from Marty’s gang so he can “save” Scientology. Guess what the likelihood is of that being true?

But then Rathbun has managed to make a living out of lying about his intentions, too.
