Marty Rathbun isn’t just an avowed enemy of Scientology and L. Ron Hubbard, he is obsessed with reaching and degrading those who aren’t.
One of the more entertaining aspects of watching Rathbun is hearing him whine and complain when he is stifled, when people ignore him in droves. This is nothing new for “critics” and attackers of Scientology. When people just ignore them and continue up the Bridge, it drives them crazy because it thwarts their purpose.
The mechanism at work is simple. LRH described how low-toned people like Rathbun dramatize bringing others down with them. In fact, he called it an Axiom:
“ENTHETA IN SUFFICIENT QUANTITY BROUGHT INTO PROXIMITY WITH THETA WILL ENTURBULATE THAT THETA.”
“Here we have a matter of quantity…when we have more entheta present than theta, the theta is likely to become entheta. This is the contagion factor of aberration.” LRH
When Rathbun can’t feed off the theta of those actually making case gain, he can feel his dwindling spiral closing around him. When he can’t spread his aberration, he feels more isolated in his losing battle.
All manner of “rational” arguments come out of suppressives like Rathbun about “data” and “facts,” but there is always an underlying complaint when others don’t fall for the entheta lines. Any subterfuges about “saving” or “reforming” things are just that; a covert effort to make you think their purpose is other than to lead you further down the tone scale – toward death – which is their real purpose.
The one thing a “critic” like Rathbun can’t stand is being ignored, being denied the opportunity to get his hooks into you, being thwarted in his effort to enturbulate you and carry out his goals of contagion of aberration.
So when you hear complaints about not being listened to by people who produce nothing but complaints, you know their real purpose is simply to enturbulate and spread their aberration.
The best you can do is enjoy your wins, and flourish and prosper without letting those critics feed off your theta.

It used to be their Holy Grail to get someone on lines and winning to stop and listen to their enemy lines or engage in a discussion of their complaints. It probably still is, since it is a trait of their tone level as you pointed out.
I’ve seen guys in the early days of usenet going ballistic that Scientologists “won’t LISTEN” to them. It still makes me laugh.

I guess you’re referring to Marty’s anguish over Scientologists not paying attention to his rants and other entheta sites.
You should add that when they’re ignored they also attack a person’s right to not listen.

It’s got to drive him a bit crazy to see people still moving on the Bridge despite him trying everything he could think of to stop that.

It’s almost like Caberta overwhelmed Rathbun’s very little remaining theta when he was in Germany and it drove him into grief. As usual, he selected a wrong target, but the real one was sitting next to him.
It is interesting to see one SP being a larger SP than the one beside her.
It’s testament to the tech that people who are up the Tone Scale just don’t hear (or don’t grant any importance) the mutterings of those down the Tone Scale.

It is not that people don’t listen, it is that they see what is doing the talking, they spot the outpoints and they evaluate what is being said as crap and cut the line as fast as possible.

What people listen to is indicative of their tone level. Uptone people like to listen to truth and aesthetics, and all Marty has to offer is lies and entheta. Seems like a no brainer that people aren’t going to listen to him.
What amazes me is their total inability to get exterior to the scene and see how foul and just plain creepy they look. You know, if they’re disgruntled, just go away and find something else to do.
That was one classy post there Vince. You had me at the Axiom, and the viewpoint so elegantly stated. Rathbun masquerades as someone who has an idea and can do something about it. But when has it ever happened?
I used to watch a lot on newsgroups and so forth and that was a common theme…complaining about how we won’t “confront the truth” or the big one “have a dialogue”!
I loved that one. The whole purpose of the “dialogue” they wanted was to get you to defend all the perverted slants they had about Scientology, LRH, the tech, regging, etc. etc.
It used to frustrate some of them no end that the only people they got to have a dialogue with were other critics.
I’m thinking it’s a lower harmonic of those.
Don’t forget, when Marty gets good and frustrated, he defaults to punishing bodies.

The only purpose of people trying to debate Scn that I can see is their effort to unmock it and those who understand and use it.
Marty’s purpose is to get people as far away from gaining from it as possible.
I never get tired of seeing all the different things the critics come up with that need discussion and debating. They’ll do anything but duplicate the tech and apply it to themselves.
The cliche psych Rathbun does kind of slip out a lot lately. He’s reading classic psych texts and pop psych magazines for inspiration on ways to attack Scientology. It’s unbelievable, and his cult let him get away with it.
He’s also gradually trying to get people to agree with him that psych tech isn’t so bad.
This is the same guy who has such a superior grasp of the philosophy.
And what he lives with in his own universe.
I can’t say I don’t look forward to it, although I would like to see him as a being start moving in the direction of getting handled and moving in the right direction.

Yes, that was mentioned here recently about people below 2.0 getting a perverse “pleasure” out of death bound activities. It was in the Pleasure Moments chapter of SOS, I believe.

I was going to just agree, but I realized that the title of this piece is Marty Rathbun, Chronic Failure. To be certain, I thought I would double check the definition of chronic. I can’t decide whether it is meaning 1: constant; habitual; inveterate: a chronic liar, or meaning 3: having long had a disease, habit, weakness, or the like: a chronic invalid. I get the impression that ratman is both.
I’m not an expert like you guys, but I think the natter is just showing off and hiding that they have done something like what they are nattering about. It is like a hidden production of overts that they want to announce in a covert way.
I’ll remember that. This is like being on course and seeing the spiritual cripple do exactly what Ron predicts. I remember in the Dianetics book how he described someone who was like this being “directed and motivated by irrational engrams”. I love that phrase directed and motivated. You can see exactly what Ron meant when you look at what ratman does.
I am just a little confused. What do I need to ask the ratman about? I read the thing he wrote when he admitted to wasting millions of the Church’s money and kept creating controversy when there wasn’t any and the other things he did. And I read some things he said when he went to Germany. It seemed like what a 12 year old would say who has never had to learn about responsibility. I don’t need to talk to 12 year olds and I don’t need to talk to ratman. Everything he does tells me enough about how he is an insignificant being who thinks that being a bully will cure his ineptness.
Are you making a comment about how the ratman always hits people? I have only seen the video of him in the drug stupor smoking and spitting, but I didn’t see hitting.

I spent the last couple of weeks with family where I was forced to watch this phenomena in a famiy “friend” – a real enturbulator whom people got so tired of listening to that they stopped – at which point she was overheard nattering up a storm about not being listened to! Behind our backs, of course! It appears Marty is just a bigger, fatter, nastier version of my aunt!
Great point. I find the “free speach” argument particularly specious. It’s just a slander fest by people indulging in the belief that one can say anything they like about public figures and not be held accountable.
Well, I maintain that with Marty it’s all about money; he literally can’t get a job sweeping floors so he feels he has no choice but to steal the tech and try to create a conflict that will generate enough publicity to bring him a few bucks, one way or another. So when people stop listening to him, yeah, he’s gonna panic big time for more reasons than one.

Is Marty really complaining that people aren’t listening to him?? You would think he has never heard of “Glutz PR.” The more I read about this guy, the more convinced I am that Marty Rathbun never actually read a single LRH policy, that he is now and always has been a big fat fraud.

what you hear on the web or in public is whitewashed compared to what you hear from these people in person or when they think they are alone with others like them. the venom and vicious attitudes are amazing, and I’m not exaggerating. they outright talk about destruction and even death of people, not just the church.
so I always view what they put up for public consumption as pretty mild, and mostly just the pr side of things.
I’ve thought that many times. The fact that they don’t just go away and find something else to do tells me a lot, like they’re stuck in it. The same way they’re stuck in the incidents they’re dramatizing.
That is so not surprising in and out. Make wrongs to the extreme, total disassociation from anyone. These are very lost people.
It is nice though that there aren’t a majority of these types, or even a large minority. In a nice family they get little traction. In the world there are so many of them in the loony bins and wandering the streets (why do I think of that video of the marble building that Rathbun was drooling and chasing his tail in?)

I went to his bogus site to see what the fuss was about – does he purposefully go from out-list rant to blaring his overts on purpose or is he too stupid to notice? I can’t stand to read to much as the obvious falsehoods bore me, but is there a trend to his blather?
