How low can Marty Rathbun go? Well, 2011 showed us a glimpse. I say glimpse, because I’m sure he’s not yet sunk to the depths he’s capable of. Rathbun gave us evidence that he became what he failed to handle by sucking up to Ursula Caberta, revealing his long term alliance with avowed LRH-mocker Mark Bunker, and taking serial legal loser Graham Berry into his arms (and worse, following his advice.)
There are plenty of laughable moments that the cartoon Marty Rathbun provided us with, many of them centering around Rathbun’s mistaken idea that perception is reality. This is entirely consistent with his incessant drive to alter things around him, and part of why he never got any case gain. One of the better examples in 2011 was Rathbun comparing himself to Martin Luther, and after a friend poked him and told him the difference between ML and MLK, Rathbun decides to compare himself to both. None of which changes the fact that he’s just a low-level underachiever with the mouth of a snake-oil salesman.
He finally drops it because even his kool-aid cult-of-personality followers are embarrassed by the comparisons.
Rathbun pushes so hard to get people to believe that what he SAYS (perception) is the truth, that he is taken in by others doing the same to him. Mark Bunker spends years in one of the most creepy displays of LRH hatred and Dianetics/Scientology Tech mockery one could possibly find, but Rathbun believes him when Bunker says he only wants to help “reform” the Church. Rathbun conveniently never bothers to look at what Bunker has actually done.
Also misreading Ortega, a third-rate porn advertiser desperate for copy and attention, gets Rathbun publicly embarrassed (in front of his cult, anyway) when Ortega decides to hop on an old hobby horse – attacking Scientology. Rathbun is happy to have some “media” outlet for his daily entheta output, so feeds Ortega whatever he can. The two stretch it out over a month, and at the end, Ortega slaps Rathbun in the face by calling him on his transparently corny assertion that Rathbun is pro-LRH.
Rathbun is stunned that the viper he’s been sleeping with bit him. But rather than show some integrity, Rathbun bends over and says, essentially, “thank you Sir, may I have another?” He ends up dismissing it as “agreeing to disagree,” and propitiatively calling Ortega “brother.”
Marty Rathbun looks at how even those yellow journalists who have tired of his bogus claims have deserted him, and can’t bear to lose his one remaining “voice” in the media.
Even now, Rathbun continues to feed him scurrilous claims, as has no where else to go, and he has to keep his dwindling cult members thinking he’s doing something.
Next up: Marty Rathbun takes squirrelling to new levels and tries to call it “standard.”

Right. He claimed he was going to Germany to handle German attacks on Scientology. Of course he did nothing of the sort. He made things worse just as he intended. The whole “handle Germany” line was a cover for his free trip (paid by Caberta) and his soapbox rants on German TV.

Reading this latest Vince was an eyeopener. For a long year all the little bits kept being added to the story without really allowing reflection. But done like this makes me realize how morbidly panicked Rathbun is. I bet that in his wildest nightmares he didn’t realize he would have to suck up to two very weird people just to try to stay interesting.

Don’t you think that really Rathbun is so very good at underachieving that actually he is a high-level underachiever? I mean, come on, being trained and somewhat competent, I am pretty certain that I could have done a lot more with the assets that he had. I would also have forced someone to kill me for doing damage to the Church (presuming I was too chicken to do it myself), but that’s just me. Maybe that is why Rathbun is still around. He doesn’t think that he committed any overts against the Church because everything ended up so incompetently???

Rathbun is doing something, the same as he has been doing for quite a while – his compulsion(s) force him too – that I understand. Why anyone would want to associate with someone who so embarrassingly posts the results of his immature mental masturbations for everyone to see…that I don’t understand.
One of my favorites of all time. Shows you the kind of people Rathbun thinks are just great. This is the kind of civilization Rathbun would spread far and wide if he could.
rathbun is for anything that is against Scientology and even LRH based on all his loud support of guys who trash LRH. that’s a stable datum you can count on, and there aren’t too many of those with rathbun, he’s so full of deceptions it’s hard to know what to believe.
Re: perception as truth
This is Rathbun’s only card, and he plays it all the time. He played it while he was in the Church constantly; I never saw him actually produce a product. He his behind this image that he was a “handler.” I would like to see his actual stat graphs for that entire period.
Now, he’s just flat twisting things and making them up and trying to make them sound believable to whoever will listen, and I was there close enough for most of it, and I know how much of this stuff is a total twist on the actual truth.
I can only conclude that he is certifiably psychotic, and sees things in a totally different light than other people (and not a good one) or that he is just a complete liar with no conscience at all.

Isn’t it amazing how much Rathbun’s incompetent attempts at juggling stupid people and stupid ideas almost seems benign except for the malicious intention of malicious control and the need to stop anyone from anything that is going to give them an edge over the wall to see how horrid he is?

I have said it all along, and I still believe that I will be shown to be right. Marty Rathbun will end up endorsing psychiatry – its drugs and its surgical procedures – in the name of “achieving LRH’s goals”.

Maybe he dreams he has a doctorate because his BS ranks him much higher than the average BSer, but it is all lies all the time for our Marty – he neither has a BS or a Doctorate.
Funny though. The only people getting worse are his minions. Drug reversions, further drops away from their real intentions, getting into fights about very odd points of their scam. Marty’s destructive products don’t reach into the Church at all. He’s a complete failure there.

Frankly Tina, I already can’t tell if Rathbun is getting lower. His writing is so screwed up. I used to have to pause between each sentence to figure out what he was saying. Now, I have to pause at each phrase. No hyperbole! His head is obviously exploding with frustration. He gets so excited about the most lame things like they prove some deep thought of his. It is really getting weird.

I just don’t see any results Linebacker. Take his latest post (Pleeeease!!!) I can barely get through more than a couple of his ramblings, but his circle logic is proving some odd occurrence that proves some other odd situation that someone else mentioned which proves that someone else mentioned something. And, though it is all InnerRathbunBrainSignificance, and though I am not a novice in this field anymore, I just can’t follow.

I can only guess that there is nothing to say, but he has hung his…uhm, whatever…out there, and he things he has to perform so he does some circus monkey act. And all the while, the executives of the Church are making actual events happen. More capable people, more training, events that highlight terrific things happening all over the world, larger and more capable buildings…poor Wrath.

Accurate, actually. It’s not the content that’s important, it’s the fact of continual attack. Rathbun can’t do anything else now.
He gets occasional encouragement by another dying thetan occasionally coming out and adding support for the idea of separation/schism/freelance practice of “Scientology.” Invariably, these turn out to be squirrel, and not just administratively.
That fact alone invalidates all the bluster and quoting of policy that’s used to attack the Church and COB, etc.
But beyond that (and even with that) he really can’t conceal his lack of success.

Ortega was the most obvious. Others haven’t been so open yet. The funny part to me is how Ortega knew he could do it and Marty would still stay on the hook. He actually knew he was Marty’s only outlet. Ortega needs copy too much to waste Rathbun, and knew that he wasn’t wasting Rathbun because he knew Rathbun needed some outlet and didn’t have the guts to stand up for himself at the cost of losing his remaining media whore.
That kinda tells you a lot about his audience.
That’s where the road of O/W’s, continuous missed withholds, out ethics takes you to. Each one of them is in a state where they’re in a games condition with Scientology instead of being responsible for their own conditions and using it as LRH put forth.
No, he knows. It’s gotten to be Rathbun’s purpose. But he’s driven himself to the point where he’s inverted, like any SP, in which an overt is commendable.
Rathbun believes he can, and these are some of the people he’s counting on to help.
I was there, too, and know what you are talking about. The worst part to me is not just confirming suspicions about Rathbun, but knowing that he had a pretty carefully selected group of friends who were similar. Like Rinder (we knew, because he was his puppy even then) DeV, Hawkins, et al.
These guys all in their different areas were about the same thing – running the Church down, or at least holding Scientology back actively.
Personally, I love the fact that their counter-intention was ultimately gotten off the lines. I’m also sure there are, and always probably will be, others still dug in there who will have to ultimately be shaken out.
But this is true of all endeavors on planet Earth.
You’re right for the most part, but there will always be PTSes and SPs who buy into entheta and blow. I expect to see more, and I think these are Rathbun’s real public.
But I like your take on his “products.” They’ve been pointed out on this blog for a while now. It’s really the one thing that people actually have to see…those connected to Rathbun and friends don’t go up the Bridge, and actually become even more messy in their lives.

Very funny line. Rathbun may not have actually been that ignorant, but his use of PR in this case is.
I don’t think there’s any likelihood of that. He bought a one-way ticket and keeps punching it daily. I don’t even think it’s subtle with Rathbun. I think he knows he wants everything and anything to shrink, in the most destructive ways.
Pardon me for sounding jaded, but Rathbun is an almost endless source of amusement for me. I should take him more seriously. He is after all, quite destructive and would harm us all if he could.

What is so cool about Marty is that he is so consistent. Always the Martyr, always blaming someone else, always quick with the twist that is only slightly completely false, and in regards to your point, always leaving the people he associates with a little worse off each time.

Sheesh! You are so right!!! What you said about his logic and writing times two. I couldn’t come up with an idea at the end of any sentence except that our little martyr is complete freak’n nuts. He can’t even disguise it anymore.
The other thing is how wonderful it shows what getting suppression off the lines can do. So many plans got moving and dramatically taken up by us in the field, all over the world. It is very cool actually.
Easy to be jaded when he fits exactly so many tools that we use to describe the kind of crap he perpetrates, and the way he acts, and the kind of people he associates with. He has such a wide streak of stupid all around him.
