Marty Rathbun makes a practice of supporting harmful actions and attacking beneficial ones.
As a commenter here pointed out recently, it doesn’t matter what Rathbun attacks about, he will always have “reasons” for attacking and will manufacture complaints on which to attack. The one constant is his imperative to attack, and in fact, to destroy.
Even some of Rathbun’s own readers have noticed that Rathbun doesn’t find anything good to say even about the most obvious benefits and successes of the Church. In fact he goes out of his way to dream up faults in such efforts. If it were up to Rathbun, the tremendous aid the Church has delivered to disaster victims, the life-changing improvements brought to the illiterate, dramatic crime decreases brought about by dissemination of The Way to Happiness – just for example – all would not even be attempted.
What does Marty Rathbun do while the Church of Scientology rolls up its sleeves and helps so many? He sits along the sidelines of life lashing out at those who would truly help their fellow human beings, issues mean spirited criticisms of anything and everything he can think of relating to Scientology and its Founder, and conducts an incessant campaign to try and build a cult of his own personality founded on hatred of those he betrayed.
Who does he support? Long-established religious bigots who have spent decades trying to eliminate Scientology altogether. Media suppressives who crave Rathbun’s “controversial” remarks while supporting themselves by advertising prostitution. Any and every bitter internet denizen who will contribute in any way to his efforts to destroy a religion.
You would consider such a person psychotic, and you would be right:

In listening to Rathbun, you can see that he believes (or hopes) that people can’t be truly helped. This is a large part of why he himself doesn’t make the effort to help, and decries those who do.

Well, he’s certainly stuck. Even some of his own minions notice that he hasn’t changed in the last 2 years, except he’s gotten nastier.

That’s been Rathbun’s end result for 20+ years. It’s getting harder and harder for him to hide it, tho.
Like you said in you last post, you’ll have to wait a long time before you see Rathbun perform altruistic acts. He might buy a beer for someone at his local saloon, but even that would be for his own pr.
The help button is one of the most reliable ways to determine an SP. Even when Rathbun “helps” someone like one of his “pc’s”, he does it so he can promote himself after. If anyone were able to check his products or see what he actually did, you can be sure it wasn’t real help, but probably squirrel by design.
Who does he support? is a great question. That’s all you need to know about Rathbun.
Him calling himself a Scientologist is a joke. He’s just pure anti and his act is getting real old.

To look at who he supports is one thing, and another is to look who supports him. Even the little people on his blog are sour, nasty supporters of him and his always complaining actions. They don’t do a very good job of hiding their real intentions.
You paint a good picture of him, and it matches his actions. It’s what I think of him. I also think he has got to be rather miserable, being unable to function as a decent person.

I think that Rathbun stopped being covertly destructive long since. He’s very overt about it now. Yes, he does say covert things, but he can be seen very overtly as destructive. I think it may not be long before he stops pretending to be “pro” Scientology.
I haven’t been watching him for very long, but it’s already clear that he will always find things to complain about. It doesn’t matter what it is with people like that, they will just complain because they must complain.
You will also never see positive products coming out of such people.
The only reason Rathbun could consider himself “successful” is because other suppressives cheer him on. That’s his whole audience as far as I can see. Maybe some severe PTSes.

What’s really sad is that there are still people who have gathered to him or at least are in communication with him who don’t see that.
You’re never going to see real help coming out of Rathbun, or his camp. Just words and PR, designed to make themselves look legitimate. The only people who fall for it are people who want to, and you would have to ask yourself why they would want to.
if rathbun had a single real “help” bone in his body, he would have risen up and slammed ortega for the sex trafficking his rag supports.
I still suspect rathbun gets money for giving them content.
I think the thing that really torques Rathbun’s help button is knowing that other people are going OT daily. (while he personally doesn’t have a chance in hell.)

You’re pointing out another signpost of Rathbun’s demise. I’ve said before he is delusional and a megalomaniac, and part of that is that he thinks what he’s doing is “help” and “good work.”
Don’t let his apparent lucidity fool you.
This is a good summary of Rathbun, but you should mention that he is involved in supporting that prostitution advertising while claiming to be very “moral”. He ruins his own small credibility with that.

There is of course, no excuse for that no matter how you look at it. Caberta means no good whatsoever for Scientology or any Scientologist, and Rathbun is her ally.
It’s good you are pointing out what is now the mechanical action of attacking and trying to harm anything that really helps. This is entirely consistent with his other sub-zero actions and attitudes.
When he rises on the scale, he becomes 1.1 and covert about his intentions, but that’s just for public consumption. As you quoted, the end result is always a total smash.
Don’t look for Rathbun to ever genuinely try to help or improve others. His notions of improvement or “freedom” will always point downward on any given scale, overtly or covertly.
Real help gets Rathbun’s buttons, and is only going to renew his efforts to try to smash it. He can’t come right out and do that because people would see him for what he is. He has to twist real help to sound like it’s just a “front,” which is just Rathbun again accusing others of what he does himself. He’s all “front”.
Of course, Rathbun is a man who even totally smashed his own honeymoon.
Interestingly, other earlier squirrels just tried to ruin things by altering them. Rathbun does that too, but he’s not satisfied with just altering the tech. He madly attacks anything to do with Scientology as publicly as he can.

I think you’re right that Rathbun would be happy if all those things were never even attempted. He sees other people improving and can’t stand that.
Rathbun has tried to “help” his audience by sending them off to read pop psychology books instead of the tech he should have duplicated, oh, about 30 years ago.
Of course that tech wasn’t real to him (the SP tech) because a true psychotic never questions his own sanity or motives.
Reading those quotes in a new unit of time with regard to Rathbun is therapeutic for me. I can see how he did that constantly when I knew him, but could never quite apply that to him because I would dub in that he was legitimately trying to do a job. Damn.

Yes – he left a long trail of smash in the church – PR, legal and personal disasters, and a lot of upset lives. And it’s obvious he is doing just exactly the same now as an “independent”.
Just look at the out-2D, drug use, fall offs and fails that surround him now that he is free to do just what he wants. It is clear that the only reason he ever produced a decent product (if he ever did) was because someone told him exactly what to do and reigned his bank in hard enough to make sure he did what he was told.
It’s all part of his downhill slide.

Rathbun is totally resistant to having his “tech” work inspected. He doesn’t even keep worksheets per se , for fear of being found out somehow.
But you don’t need that anyway. Just read what he says and you can see all 10 points of KSW being violated.
It’s definitely squirrel by design. He selectively omits parts of the tech that would reveal what he’s doing. You have to have ongoing major w/h’s to do that. It’s not just his button on self-importance that keeps him from letting anyone qual his “work.”
And now he has no one at all keeping his ethics in, or inspecting his work. In all that time, those who reined him in missed a lot of w/h’s, therefore the incessant attacks as I see it.
You have to conclude they are of similar mind. There are too many gross suppressive acts and squirrel actions going on to just happen to overlook them.

Rathbun’s idea of help is to drink beer with Caberta, who would outlaw Scientology completely. To say anything else is a lie.
He said he would come to Germany to “handle”, but all he did was make things worse for Scientologists. We are thriving despite him, because everyday people can see what a suppressive person Caberta is.
I can see that attitude, but can’t respect the fact that he’s still pretending to be a “Scientologist.” He hasn’t got the integrity to come out and state what he really is and really intends.
Again, Marty is all about Marty. (Maybe that’s what his wife is starting to realize.)
Even when he’s super friendly with his supporters his real message is “look what a great guy I am.”
If you could see what he does in session you would probably gag. Marty considers himself a source, and can do what he wants. He actually thinks he has duplicated the true intent of the tech better than anyone.

You can see that he’s been working hard to take the “whine” out of his rants over the last year or so, and keeps failing. He tries to write with altitude, but his underlying complaining keeps coming through.
Exactly right. Trying to make himself look better is one of his major motivations, and you can see it in everything he says.

It’s another huge outpoint that he keeps pushing that BS line, and even worse that some are still subscribing to it. From reading them, they don’t appear to be that stupid, and one can only conclude that they are in on the facade. The purpose is a simple one: pull as many people off or away from the Bridge as possible.

The point about him mechanically attacking and finding the “reasons” to use is a good one. It’s beyond his help. Rathbun really can’t help himself. He’s like a dog that absolutely must bark.
Yes, it’s what I think of him, too. His misery comes through in his writing when I’ve read it. He puts up a good front, but it’s there.
That might actually be a relief. But he wears false colors to try to keep some kind of readership, and he would lose even more of that if he came out in the open.

I have to admit it’s funny the way posters refer to Rathbun as a “moroon” since he spelled it that way himself. I tried writing “moron” myself and just couldn’t do it.
Marty speaks with forked tongue. He tries to take credit for “good” things the “independents” might approve of (or to try to make himself look like a legal “expert”) and out of the other side of his mouth denies responsibility for his own actions that people like anonymice find offensive, so they won’t turn against him.
Right. The IRS thing for example would have been a dog’s breakfast if Rathbun hadn’t been gotten out of the way. The guy created and extended situations, he didn’t handle them.
Not just decent programs; he actually sent in minions he created (other SP’s he found and put in place) to chop up auditors and help bring down productive upstats who might find him out.
Rathbun has long been a bad, bad guy.
The koolaid natter is one of his best. The Church and COB push Source, and Marty pushes his latest misinterpretations of source along with every self promoting phrase he can put into a paragraph.
From what little I’ve heard from Rathbun this is one guy who hasn’t even got “help” on his radar. I think even other bad guys know this, so you’re probably just preaching to the choir even writing about it.
He and some of his friends have reached out to a few people I know and they took the whole thing like they were being slimed. Their idea of “help” was to help you get the hell out of Scientology, but meanwhile they were talking like they were the real Scientologists.
I don’t know what drugs these anti helpers are taking, but I wish they would just keep them to themselves.

Well, the only “training” Marty had was read it, drill it, do it, so I’m not surprised that he would pull a bizarre stunt like this.
When I think about it, it really can’t be worse than Marty himself. She at least looks like she was once a social personality.
Rathbun himself has absolutely zero business C/S’ing anybody, much less training C/S’es. Maybe he has Logan or somebody equally unqualified teaching her C/S’ing.

I’ve been noticing squirrels for a long time and can honestly say spotting violations of all 10 points is easiest with Marty than anybody, and that is saying something when you consider who I’m talking about.
It’s not even subtle with Rathbun, except for his continual protestations that what he’s doing is “standard.”
How people who were at least *trained* in the tech can stand by and let him get away with this garbage is beyond me. I know some of them (De la Carriere, Logan) and while they were rightfully busted to zero tech wise, they should and do know better.

Don’t overlook the major dive he took when he started seeking out the Cabertas and Bunkers and Berries. That was his idea of applying Emergency, because he was on a nosedive before that. Now, he’s managed to pull in a few baddies who actually liked that.
Of course, it backfired like most of Marty’s big plans, and he lost a hell of a lot more than he gained.
