I hate to pile on when Marty Rathbun is being so roundly laughed at for his obvious cluelessness when it comes to Scientology, but it’s hard to avoid.
While Marty does his best to slander LRH and Scientology as broadly as he can, he himself is being mocked mercilessly for his dishonesty and his sub-zero responsibility level for his own past despicable actions – particularly by other “independent” practitioners, not just by those of us who do understand Scientology principles and have gotten gain from them.
We’ve all seen Rathbun knowingly pervert and subvert Administrative technology as well as Ethics technology, and it’s become clearer as time goes on (and according to his own admission) that he now wants to move into his “tech phase” and do the same with Standard Technology.
But where he’s losing even the few who bought into his nonsense in the first place is in his growing embrace of psychology texts and philosophies as his frame of reference. This is Marty’s idea of “workable technology.”
It must be, he thinks, since one of Rathbun’s best “PC’s (and best friends) shook Marty to the core by abjuring Scientology (and any further “auditing” from Rathbun,) and instead referring Marty to a psychology text that has now superceded Rathbun’s shallow understanding of Scientology and become his guiding light. He refers to it and quotes from it liberally, and it’s become part of the core of whatever spinny mass constitutes Rathbun’s understanding of life.
Yet Rathbun still pretends to practice Scientology, declaring level completions, and combining what little he understood of it with what he’s learned from his “cognitive therapist” friends.
He’s even completing his “PC’s” on advanced levels of “mythology” and “metaphors” these days.
I fully expect Marty Rathbun to start looking into his navel soon to find out “what’s wrong.”
It’s just getting harder for him to maintain the charade of ever having been a “Scientologist.” Rathbun’s looking like someone who was a plant from the gitgo.
Rathbun is getting squirrellier every time I read what he says. I say enjoy your cognitive therapy, Marty. It may be the closest you come to ever having a cognition.

Fascinating idea. I have trouble thinking that he could be valuable to anyone. But logic is on your side Overdrive.
The only thing remaining Terri is whether he names his phantasy as Squirrelogy or Squirreletics. He has to somehow have the marketing glow of Scientology.
Hmmm. Navel gazing is too high up even for Rathbun Vince. And before I have to tell you to get your mind out of the gutter, I was thinking of foot fungus gazing.

He’s really lucky that he has chosen psychotherapy as his solution since there are a thousand thousand variations, most just like Mr. Marty’s wonderful Motivator-centered life. Do something screwed up? Make it OK by calling it a therapy choice. Not very scientific, but Freud and everyone after him have done it all the way through their Jungian astro/mistress life and into their ice pick in the brain life and now in their drugs that do the same. By working with the woman in Hamburg who works with the pill companies, Marty is right up there.
Charade – such a perfect word for Mr. Marty since it sounds so pleasant but is so devastating for the people who revert to drugs or go on rampages from his ‘treatments’.
It is so funny to think of Marty lasting another news cycle. He has spent so much of the capital of having been associated with Scientology yet gotten nowhere. He got no traction as he made himself a fool on TV around the world, he got no momentum in the press. Now he is writing to himself, interviewing himself, getting his own script of failure all by himself.
You must be right Angie R. It perfectly aligns with Marty’s reach and his ability to create an effect. Dwindling spirals all around.

So this is the world of the Marty Rathbun now with all his reference to psychs and soon to be pushing drugs with his new tech – the man hasn’t met a justifier and motivator he didn’t like and with people leaving him for drugs, you know he will have to say he knew it all the time, in fact, told them to use the drugs as part of his treatment.

I find it hard to believe that my man Marty could have slipped so far from the halcyon days of spitting on the marble floors and doing the bag lady thing. When you showed me that video I thought I was going to die of embarrassment for the dude.
My Marty can justify anything. He keeps the rot on his feet so as to better feed his phalanged to his fish mentors.

This is where Marty-logic leads. He can’t get anything stable, no positive results ever stick. He never understood enough tech to really know the fabric and how to place it to make it hang beautifully on the being he is working with. So he comes up with lame-ass variations and combinations of other practices and soon he’ll be justifying drugs. Like you say, his failed-PCs are already using them. That must have been the outcome that Marty wanted.

Cognitive Therapy is perfect for a constant justifier like Mr. Marty. It is a great road to no progress, but since the counselor gets to pontificate, Marty can implant people like the madman he is.
I bet that would work well with the cognitive thinking role that Marty wants to play. He can guide people to true madness.

That was a fun read Modesto. Thanks. Fraud like glaxo and rathbun is the worst and can’t be paid back by money, but is sure helps. Rathbun is such a failure that he won’t have anything of value once his fraud is exposed and the lawsuit is over and the Texas State authorities turn over what he has to those he is damaging, but it will be fun to read about just like the glaxco losses.

Isn’t that the perfect thing about Rathbun, that he gets to tell us and tell us and, oops! that isn’t LRH and it isn’t any part of Scientology that he is trying to leach off of. No wonder he is a nothing to so many.
Yeah, Marty’s being butchered on other anti-Scientology boards and sites. Even the other bad guys know what a fraud he is.
His entire blog in response is just a PR front he’s trying to put up, but people who truly watch (from either end) recognize Rathbun as a money and attention-grubbing snake.

Rathbun never has disappointed with the people he attracts. He can’t do any better. And yes, he sure is desperate.
If Rathbun were to actually get himself into the hands of a cognitive therapist for “therapy,” the guy would have a field day with him, starting with the extreme cognitive dissonance of Rathbun saying repeatedly that he’s pro-Scientology, yet all his actions are directed toward slandering the subject (not just the Church) and he’s hooked up with people whose life purpose is the utter destruction of the subject.

Marty’s “cognitive dissonance” would cause a legitimate therapist (I’m being generous here) to commit suicide. There’s no room in the comments to cover all the points where he makes that clear.
Start with how he’s making “OT’s” by clearing them on “metaphors.”

What a great point. It has been clear for such a long time that Mr. Marty didn’t know WTF he was doing with any LRH tech point and his solution was to read the pseudo-sciences for insight. But their histories are no better than Mr. Marty’s. Complete failure with doses of getting pair for fraud. Maybe that is where he got his ideas.
You would think that Marty never really knew anything about Scientology tech…and you would be right!
I went and checked out a bit of this – first time – and I was amazed at how there is an entire sector of the world of entheta-types who think Rathbun is a “clown.” That’s one of the mildest terms they use for him. Tell the truth, I’m stunned that they have the perception to see what a huckster and liar he is. A big theme is how he just keeps rehashing his natter and creepy lies. Even these guys can see Rathbun is a no change case.
Rathbun takes whatever audience he can get, obviously. He’s trying to get attention which will translate into money for him. I’ve seen that even other haters think he’s just a total hack.

This is what shook Marty to the core. Not exactly an unshakeable certainty that the tech works, is it?
If Rathbun had EVER gotten a real result with any other PC, he would have seen this for what it is, and his “friend” for what HE is.
Yet Rathbun still promotes himself as a tech authority. Will any of his readers see what a dips**t snake oil salesman he is? Doubtful.
Rathbun is going to do the same as his idol Caberta, and try to disallow any Scientologist from public life.
